Divine Pines of Topsail Sound
Haslea is a rare algae found only in select parts of the world and causes the greening of oyster gills. Present on our farm when the water temperatures are low, the salinity levels are high, and the growing conditions are just right.
The oyster consumes this algae and engulfs it's added health benefits making it allelopathic, antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiviral. The rarity of this relationship between the algae and the oyster makes it a North Carolina delicacy.
